blasphemy? meh. “we talk about fear of God as being a good thing…God–stern, fatherly, punishing…sin…Well, all of that is wrong….”


“We have ideas like blasphemy because of the old and mistaken notions of hell but even more so of God being stern, fatherly, and punishing. We have notions of sin because of both of those. And we talk about fear of God as somehow being a good thing.

“Well, all of that is wrong. As we now know. And in with those things that are legacies from those wrong, and unfortunately tragic, ideas is the idea of blasphemy. As we found out, God is bigger than we thought. Loving. All-Merciful. And God hardly cares about things like sins and blasphemy. Because it is not like God is some insecure childish king demanding nobody say anything disrespectful about Him….”
