REGARDING FUNNY GOD: THE TAO OF FUNNY GOD AND THE MIND’S TRUE LIBERATION

THE BEST..Re reading it..Enjoyable, my first Micheal Adzmas Books at 60! I will be reading him awhile 😎

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase

This is the forth book i have read from Michael’s writings and again i must say it was worth the time because of the unique manner that this (knowledge) was presented. I have read many books in my life time on religions ,philosophies , mysticism and sciences searching for reasons why we are here on this plane of existence and of coarse, all the other questions i had pertaining to many unknowns . Michael’s experiences with consciousness (True Self) and matter is presented in a format which will make you realize many TRUTHS to say the least (esp. in the experiences he’s had in his life time). There are many wonderful thoughts in this book about us (Physical beings) and God,Universal Consciousness, ALL THAT IS, what ever you wish to call it (DOESN’T MATTER ANYWAY! )-just mental creations for communications on this level. There is no such thing as death-how can there be- consciousness is eternal and is locked into time for brief periods for experiences at many different levels. Of coarse, there are many levels to exist in (the physical body is only one of them) and Michael’s explanations of some of this is wonderful. You will come to a different realization after reading this book and you will find a peace in your lower self (thats where all the turmoil is) Your Higher self is always at peace but you must merge with it to realize that greatness and– knowing ,awareness, experience are the keys that opens that door. Oh God ! your funny in some ways and i think Michael has found you in his personal realizations. ray lemoine

Reading Apocalypse No is the answer to all of the questions I’ve had about what is really going on this world today. This book is fascinating in the way that the author, Michael Adzema, brings to light the reasons for the apathy that haunts our planet today. His concerns for this planet mirror my own which was the reason I bought it. He actually brings us to the beginning of our problems and was my introduction to the experiential therapies. He has put many years of additional research into the therapies that go beyond the “band aids” being administered today by taking us back to our blatantly overlooked beginning. He successfully brings to attention the parallels between our beginnings to every day modern life which is also heavily mirrored in today’s pop culture; that is not inherent to our species at all. I’ve been following Michael Adzema for a couple of years online and happy he has finally brought his work to a format that can reach many more so we can begin collectively working together to heal ourselves and hopefully, this world we live in. I believe this book as well as the other books in this series he has written is rudimentary to the solutions this planet is in dire need of which has to begin within ourselves. I highly recommend this book for everyone because, as he points out, we all begin at the same point and are so deeply affected by these beginnings that we subconsciously reenact and unconsciously accept the often vague yet potent facsimiles in our everyday lives. I have found this book to be the beginning of healing and positive change for myself and hopefully for you as well. This is the book of change!

“We call it “growing up” to be impassionate, to be morosely, meekly obedient: Educators exhort us to deny emotion; Doctors prescribe pills; therapists counsel us to be less alive

“We call it “growing up” to be more insensitive, less spontaneous … to be impassionate, and morosely and meekly obedient. Our educators exhort us to deny emotions; our doctors provide pills to suppress them; and our therapists counsel their clients, helping them to be less alive. Like suburbanites paving over everything with asphalt and with manicured lawns in which any weed has been assassinated out of existence, we are terrified of anything unpredictable in the Divine, anything emotional. We want to control Divinity.

“Yet, this kind of going to the opposite extreme of emotion … worshiping nothingness, emotionlessness … does not give us a picture of Reality. It only gives us a picture of a defense against what happened to us. The problem is that God is *more*, not *less* of what is Real. Divinity is not Reality devoid of the Real, of real experience. But that is what, out of fear, we have come to wish for….”

We’d rather cuddle with a statue: “Emotions having become soured in us … we strive to empty ourselves of them. Our cultures, similarly, glorify the unaffected personality….”

“Why We Think Less Is More: There is a good reason why we make the mistake of confusing unfeelingness and a vapid personality and life experience with a greater and more Divine one. We are so traumatized by things that have been done to us in early life … maybe we had an angry daddy, a cruel mommy … that we get comfort only in imagining a Divine with no emotional qualities. We would rather cuddle with a statue, cozy up to a piece of granite, or be enamored of an empty concept or an ambiguous image or symbol than expose ourselves to what we feel to be the only alternative. That is, that Divinity might come crashing down on us like a thunderbolt … something perhaps our parents did. Because life was threatening to us, once, we seek to create a Divinity, thus, a Reality, that will not be, cannot be.

“Emotions having become soured in us, in our religious and spiritual pursuits we strive to empty ourselves of them. Our cultures, similarly, glorify the unaffected personality; and we wish to put ourselves above our feelings and to train our children out of their emotions….”

Schizoid experience and God: “Being closer to God is having more participation in, more inclusion of the Experience of Reality”

“Being closer to God is having more participation in, more inclusion of the Experience of Reality.

“This does not mean that God is not of the mind at all, is not “mental.” Feelings and experiences include the mental. For deep and profound understandings and overstandings of Reality are experiences also.

“There is the focusing on the map of Reality that distracts one from actual experience of Reality, true. There is also the retreat into abstraction in avoidance of and in fear of feelings and emotions, with their peripheries of darkness and pain … also true.

“Experience that is divided and categorized this way, and with one category elevated, others repressed, is unreal, is schizoid…”

We mistakenly think repressing our passions is holy: “Churches call them ‘sinful’; we deem them ‘inappropriate’ in middle class homes.”

“God is not angry, vengeful, or any negative emotions, but since, having experienced mostly that and not being able to imagine truly wonderful positive emotions, we think we can approach the Divine by denying emotions as well. We wish to repress passion, anger, and tears out of existence. Churches call them “sinful”; we deem them “inappropriate” in middle class homes. We create stories where Spock-like figures are said to be mystical, religious, holy, when actually it is Frodo who is. Abbie Hoffman was more mystical, in this sense, than any Pat Robertson or Billy Graham.”

“with self-denial, we kill the God in us, thinking we are becoming more God-full that way: God includes the sensual, is “interesting”

“Going outside of our pain, outside of the confines of thought created by our fears, we see that God, Life, Reality truly *is* glorious. And that includes being interesting. Divinity is not sensual because it is lacking in sensuality but because it is beyond sensuality, something greater than the experience of mere perception of things, which we call sensing things. Yet we try to approach It by denying our senses, not expanding them. Thus we kill the God in us, thinking we are becoming more God-full that way.”

“We are merely the glove on the fingers of the Divine. We are sock puppets for Divinity.”

Did you know? We are not the doer and the actor. God is. All is God.

We are merely the glove on the fingers of the Divine. We are sock puppets for Divinity.

Our only job is to enjoy the ride. Enlightenment is merely getting to know that fact.

There is no sacred or profane: “If Truth is God, then embracing what is, is equivalent to embracing God. No points for blind belief.”

“…there is no sacred or profane. God includes it all … the sacred and the profane. If Truth is God, then embracing what is, is equivalent to embracing God. No points for blind belief. Life and spirituality are not all about trying to negate, or deny, one aspect of Existence, to will it out of Existence and magnify another. God includes it all. And that includes sacred and profane.

“…in larger awarenesses, those parts we call negative, like pain, are seen in larger contexts where they are put in a different, and positive, light. Where they magnify the glory of It All. Or … where they magnify the interest or adventure or the pleasure of it all, like salt to food … or the *fun* of it all … in the many ways that can be meant. And often, in ways that we are completely unable to see ahead of time.

“All the same, becoming more inclusive, having more participation, if you will, means becoming more like that Good, that Mercy, that Compassion, that Love that we find that God is in Totality.

“Yet, the fact that God is all these other good things is, looked at this way, a happy discovery. God is not what we need It to be … something that fills up the lacks or shortcomings we have … like some kind of fantasy to make us feel better. No. God is what is….”

God’s “glory”? … “You’re still fucking peasants as far as i can see.” — John Lennon

God’s *glory*? … or human fear and peasantry

“We used to say that God did things for His own glory … that he manifested in form to glorify Himself in creation. But that is a lame word — *glory*. It’s like peasants giving the reasons for what kings do. Peasants who, thinking of royalty as being almost different beings from them, higher ones, don’t understand what their motives really are … especially when those rulers are being capricious and needlessly harmful, murderous … but they feel they’d better suck up to “the man.” It’s a nice sounding and flattering word that doesn’t really mean anything and can be applied to cover everything….”

blasphemy? meh. “we talk about fear of God as being a good thing…God–stern, fatherly, punishing…sin…Well, all of that is wrong….”

“We have ideas like blasphemy because of the old and mistaken notions of hell but even more so of God being stern, fatherly, and punishing. We have notions of sin because of both of those. And we talk about fear of God as somehow being a good thing.

“…because of our mistake we have cast the world — this one and the one “beyond” — in this oh-so-serious light….

“Well, all of that is wrong. As we now know. And in with those things that are legacies from those wrong, and unfortunately tragic, ideas is the idea of blasphemy. As we found out, God is bigger than we thought. Loving. All-Merciful. And God hardly cares about things like sins and blasphemy. Because it is not like God is some insecure childish king demanding nobody say anything disrespectful about Him….”
