More Nestling Up With the Implicate, Or

Before and After the Western Fall (Split) (June 19, 1992)

This is a holotropic session of this day:

It started out when the music was very rhythmic, and the hands were doing a lot of fertilized-egg kinds of movements and embryonic kind of stuff. And sometimes I was having images of Prague and of inside the city—especially Old Town Square and the towers. [Prague is where the holotropic workshop was being held.]

And I kept having pictures of people who had lived here, and all the suffering that had gone on here, and the striving. I kept picturing the people who had lived and written books and everything, plays and philosophies, inside their little rooms—all the different kinds of lives that people had here [Prague].

I kept picturing Swami [Sathya Sai Baba] and kept saying: “Oh Swami,” as if I were feeling and acknowledging what had gone on here: the feelings and desires, the struggles and the yearnings, and all those human things and feelings that had passed through this place. And I felt sad for all these people, the hardship they had gone through and all the feelings. And then I got up and went to the bathroom.

And when I came back it was just very peaceful. The drumming and everything was just something that was there. And I enjoyed parts of it: There were African parts, and they would have drumming and I would understand what it would be like to be an African person in a tribe.

At one point, however, the African tribe music sounded different or not good. And I had the feeling that this was singing from another tribe, not my own, an enemy tribe or something; I didn’t like it.

And then as it went off into different phases of music I would often feel very good—very interesting and beautiful in a certain way. And then it went into Native American chanting; and I thought that was incredible, that I must have been an indigenous American at one time … just wonderfully beautiful.

And it was either just before or just after that there was this Gregorian-type Church music. And one of the things that I kept having—scenes from Prague going through my head the entire time—and one of the scenes was the inside of a church.

And when the Gregorian music came on, I pictured the inside of that church again. And one of the interesting things was I realized at a certain point that people in the room around me were screaming [they actually were, in reality]—and there was a lot of that going on—and I had this feeling as if—when the Gregorian music was on—that the people in the church, the priests that is, that they had this reality going on in which they were keeping out all the screaming people, they were keeping them all outside the church, trying to repress that, trying to deny the reality of that. And so I felt like I was tuning into the reality of this place: That they [the priests and ecclesiasts] would forcibly try to repress this other element and keep it out of their consciousness, would refuse to acknowledge, let alone deal with it.

An Afterthought

As many as 30 million women were murdered horribly over a period of 300 years during the middle ages for having any trace of free-mindedness. This was done under the direction of the Catholic Church. They were often burned at the stake.

It is no coincidence that what followed for next four hundred years of Western “civilization” was a pall of Stepford wifery unparalleled among the cultures of humans, which we are only with great difficulty over the last hundred years awakening from.

Yet these forces of repression and murder continue with us today wishing to take us back to such middle age benighted views. They exist in the anti-abortion movement, even among mainstream Republicans, again with women as the direct target. And they exist in the tea party and conspiracy circles, even among some progressives, where feminism and progressive-liberal ideas are called “illuminati” — showing again that free-thinking women and enlightened views will not be tolerated … and will be scapegoated for all the horrors of the 1% and the powers that be, just as they were in the times of Catholic tyranny.

By the way, I’ve been misunderstood if anyone thinks this is just an attack on the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was the primary evil then. I mentioned Western civilization. There are many more evil perpetrators today. It is not about blaming any institution. This is a product of our “civilization” and its anti-body, anti-sexual, anti-Nature insanity and the inherent evil of hierarchical societies in general.

1. Cellular/ Transpersonal Experiences

Having established the legitimacy of transpersonal aspects of prenatal, and especially cellular, re-experience, it remains to be seen what light this new perspective throws upon traditional formulations. I suggest to you that this perspective is a catalyst to a radical reformulation of traditional concepts of consciousness and development. My understanding is that it supports a view compatible with Eastern, Platonic, and “primitive” philosophical renderings—which can be characterized as Emanationist —and completely undermines the dominant Western evolutionary paradigm. I delineate such a perspective, which I call the Falls from Grace Theory, beginning in the next chapter.

246489_213601765436874_1705444143_n

However, let us first take a look at a sampling of the kinds of experiences and perspectives that are possible at this cellular and prenatal level of re-experience before attempting to see deeper into the structure of consciousness and development, presented immediately afterwards, which contains and makes sense of them. The current chapter—A Foray Into Cellular/Transpersonal Consciousness—contains transcripts of cellular/transpersonal experiences I had through the modality of holotropic breathwork. In order to retain the flavor and potency of the raw experience itself, these transcripts are only slightly edited and are from the descriptions of my experiences I recorded immediately after having them.

The Cosmic Game

Keep on Cosmic Giggling

Grof_CosmicGameiconSS005_peek-a-boo_F_detailSo you might think of it as the game, the Cosmic Game…the only game that God can play in which there is such high drama and all the pizzazz that goes with that, and in which, at times, all these different viewing points are created, these different beings or foci of awareness, like different camera angles on the Thing as a Whole. And they all witness different perspectives on it all.

image_t6

Additionally, the human view has it that they are individual, separate actors going through different experiences, suffering from a very fun idea of having free will and being actual creators—little mini-gods, if you will—of what they view.

So life is like God’s joke, requiring that He forget the punch line in order to enjoy it. Like I said, God’s nature, and ours, is laughter. And that’s what He wants.

That’s why She created us, why She created humans. Because there’s beauty, and all that, in all the rest of creation. But it’s only through becoming much less than Herself and totally forgetting who She is and becoming us, that when She remembers…when He/She remembers…that She can go, “Wow!!!! THAT was FUN!!!”

(From a Billboard in Heaven:) HumanLand — Fun, New Amusement Park

I mean, we are God. And what did we create? Amusement parks! What do amusement parks do? Lots of peek-a-boo, don’t they?

So much of it is set up to scare the hell out of you. You go on a roller coaster. It’s going up and then reaches the top. Then it drops. You feel a rush that you are going to die. You scream….

But nobody’s going to die. Nobody dies. And we say it’s fun!

Why We Insist on Haunting Houses

0025-oc_websterimages_thumb1But, there’s more obvious ones. How about that haunted house thing? Where it’s like do-de-do-de-do-de-do-de.… And you’ve got all these scary things. You’re trapped inside and you can’t get out. Oh, and they will get you! And surely you will die, you will be haunted forever….

You’re thinking, “Oh, my god! Oooohh!! Nooo!”

200132174-002

And then what? Suddenly it’s all over and you walk out and it’s sunshine, it’s Disneyland, and people are eating cotton candy… So, it’s like, “Holy fuck!”

movies-as_-collective-dreaming_thumb

You see? But you see you have to really believe it for it to be so much fun. Unless you forget… If you go in there knowing it’s an amusement park…. Well, it’s not so much fun! Right?

Fun Times Waking from Nightmares

carnival5_thumbjacobs-ladder-mccaulay-culkin-and-tim-robbinsBut when you do allow yourself to put your awareness on the shelf for a while and get in to it as if it IS real, then it’s an in-cre-di-ble fun. It’s like the most fun. It’s like when you have a nightmare. You ever have a dream that was sooo horrible… that you were sooo glad it was a dream when you woke up?

Tae Kwon Horror Movie — New, Fun Spiritual Practice

scream4poster-finalindex_01Well, that’s a taste of it, too. How about…and of course this is not exactly forgetting…but we have a taste of it every time we go to a horror movie. Why would we even invent them? We have horror movies because we are practicing that thing of being terrified, yet having faith that the thing that we’re seeing will not harm us and we’ll be ok. It’s actually a practice…a spiritual practice…of seeing horror, but not giving it strength, not giving it reality.

teilhardnothumans-2empowered_vol__7__s_cover__in_luxurious_color_by_adamwarren-d4u489f-1-561And in life we do the same thing. The horrible things we create for ourselves, for our amusement as God, are ultimately not real. And it is only when we give these things reality, or “energy,” that we actually react to them and act them out! But even then, we are, in acting them out, experiencing things. And that is part of the journey, too. As I said, all roads lead home and every path is magnificent. There is no such thing as a short or a long time for returning to Divinity.

So that’s why we can talk about there being no high or low, about there being no good or bad, ultimately.

as-below-in-womb-so-above-in-life

The Dream Is Over.

imaggfdhjjkgesprisonbreak460_thumbBut, you know, at some point we want to go back.

Pretty much when we’re talking like this, we’re tired of it … we’re tired of the whole thing, all the drama, the Cosmic Dream. We’ve had enough of it, and we want to go back. We’re ready. We’re ready to understand, to remember again….

We Are Always and Only “Just a Membrane Away” … from Understanding Everything: A Foray Into Cellular/ Transpersonal Consciousness, Part Two — “Juicy Caring” and the Answer to Pain

“I Couldn’t Believe How Much Caring I Had Inside of Me”: Underneath It All the Only Juicy Thing That Makes Life Worth Living Is this Feeling of Connection with Everybody

Cellular Beginnings of Desire: Sperm and Egg … Reflections of Universal Love/Attraction

kohaku_open_armsjuliacrop.gifI did have a lot of opening and closing of my legs also. I even had some egg-welcoming-the-sperm feelings at the same time as I was feeling like I wanted something, I wanted to reach out and hug the music it was so beautiful.

628x471

And the movements of my hands made me realize I was like the egg pulling in the sperm. I had an insight into how the egg wanted to unite with the sperm and what it’s like to want to unite with something—to have something wonderful on this physical plane with all this pain … that there are some things that you want, and that’s why the egg pulls the sperm in.

Being One Cell … You One-Celled Animal You!

Again there was a lot of lying there and feeling like a one-celled animal, and that being both good and bad and if nothing else, being different. At one point I remember focusing on all these feelings and they weren’t good and they weren’t bad, just different. They were interesting.

The Immensity of Experience

602778_245883608875356_79184419_nI kept on thinking about the immensity of experience. The music kept having me look into all these areas of experience from all these times and places and everything else—physical and non-physical, never been physical, and so on. All this universe of experience … and I just kept tapping into it, all these spaces. And a lot of it wasn’t great or bad; it was just different. I can’t say I really liked it; but if you’re going to be here, it’s interesting to see what all there is. And I went through a period where I wasn’t quite feeling conscious; and all kinds of things were happening that were almost on a dream level, that had to do with shapes and forms.

.

486336_224628727667511_1628015546_n

Juicy Caring

Finally, towards the end, music came up that made me really cry. And it had to do with feeling or thinking about all the people in my life and all their pain … and my pain, but mostly theirs, and all the people that are sad. I had a strong sense of connection and caring for them. I couldn’t believe how much caring I had inside of me. It was a real juicy feeling. I felt like I was feeling something fundamental, like when I was a kid.

Tears_0

Connection With All and Everyone

I kept thinking about how when we are in our hylotropic mode [i.e., the everyday consciousness mode], we go away from these kinds of things, from those kinds of feelings. We get caught up in things and plans and duties, but underneath it all the only juicy thing that makes life worth living is this feeling of connection with everybody. I kept thinking as an example how Mary Lynn and I, when we watch TV and see all the pain of people around the world, and how we really feel a connection with these people and we cry for them and their pain.

passion-promotes-serenity

Why We Turn from Caring

unnaturalself-coil-unnatural-history-crpd_thumb0034-chironwoundedAnd that’s how it felt, that’s how it felt when I was a kid before I had to shut down because the pain was overwhelming. It’s just too overwhelming to see people like my father and my mother, my brother Chuckie, all these people in my life who have so much pain.

“I Really Want to Help” — The Answer to Pain

I felt like I was actually primaling for them, for the world; letting out the feelings of pain for the whole world, and I felt like I really wanted to do that; I really wanted to help. I realized how that is my major motivation: I really want to help.

541997_280034735430484_673206244_n1

I realized that is the answer to pain, that’s why I’m doing all the reading, looking so hard in all those books I’m reading. There’s no end to the amount of books I want to read, because right around the corner I may find the answer to pain. And I’ll be doing it for myself but mostly for the whole world. I want to help the pain stop.

Just a Membrane Away … from Satori

homepage1393387_203310446466006_1056465244_nAnd then at another part of it, it was almost like there was a membrane around me. And I could sense there was something wonderful which was like the spiritual reality, that we were just a membrane away from it; we’re always just a membrane away from it.

placenta-stem-cell_thumb

And especially me, my whole life I’ve felt like I’ve been on the edge of this spiritual reality and caught on the physical plane, caught in my own consciousness and just a fuckin’ short jitterbug away was this wonderful bright yellow existence, this whole wonderful perspective about everything.

adfdfafafasdfas

Feeling “Juicy”

Actually it’s this juicy feeling about everything, and what makes life meaningful is the occasional upsurge of this juicy feeling that just gives you a feeling of something that makes it all worthwhile—some reason to be here. And I feel like that is probably the reality on the spiritual plane all the time, and that we just get glimpses of it here; and I feel like it’s just a membrane away. And my whole life I’ve been just a membrane away from it, and just striving to find the answer to getting there, to find the answer to what this is all about.

OCCUPY GENERATIONS. THE RISE AND FALL OF “OBVIOUS TRUTHS”

  • What is the American Awakening?
  • How have Americans become so dumb, so that they have so often voted against their self-interest? Or did they?
  • What exactly are the Millennial Generation, Generation X, Yuppies, Boomers, the Fifties-Eisenhower, and the World War Two Generations? What do the drugs they use have to do with the events and the America they have helped to shape?
  • Everyone knows what happened in America in 1963 and 1980 that changed its direction. But what happened in 1971 that did the same thing, and much more profoundly? How is it continuing today? And why do you not know about this?
  • Has there ever really been a conservative backlash in America? Were Yuppies former hippies? Did Boomers become conservative as they became older?
  • What of Occupy Wall Street, Arab Spring, the Tea Party, and the Wisconsin union movements?
  • What is the Matrix? What are the things you know to be obviously true that are not? And why is it you think that way?
  • Why is there now, suddenly, hope for America and the world?

Class War is disguised as Culture War. The 1% foment Culture War among the 99% to distract and cover their real economic motives.

This book looks into why America’s “privileged class” — its “royalty,” “blue bloods” — started a “culture war” against the middle class, working class, the poor … and the educated, artists, and humanists in the early 1970s. We discover how their fear of Sixties activism panicked them into an all-out assault against elements that threatened their wealth and privilege in all institutions of American society — media, education, medicine, government, politics, publication, religion, especially higher education — and restructured them for their ends.

Culture War, Class War—Occupy Generations and The Rise and Fall of “Obvious Truths” is about how that reversal and restructuring happened and what has transpired in the last fifty years to bring us to this crisis. We see how Americans’ minds, personalities, beliefs, and their daily lives were orchestrated to a tune not theirs any more, but one that was sweet and harmonious to the profit-takers.

We see how this culture war, class war continues today: blatantly so in the Tea Party movement, the Republican Party, the Wall Street giveaways at the expense of jobs, tax cuts for the “filthy rich” and corporations, budget battles and cuts in government services and entitlement programs, rampant anti-environmentalism, and anti-minority, anti-immigrant laws and attacks.

Finally, we behold a worldwide global awakening. As the strains of war and financial oppression increase to a point no longer bearable, the American mind reawakens, beholds the obvious lies that have created the matrix of their lives, and sees more clearly….

We Remove the Essence of Divinity from Our Ideas of the Divine

imetrwertageschrist 1The point is that we keep removing the essence of Divinity—Experience—from all our depictions of Divinity, guaranteeing we will be wrong. Wrong, and even end up getting the opposite idea. We turn living Spirit into emotionless icon and end up worshiping, even emulating, the very things that our holy people exhort us to look away from.

sad-eckhart

jesus_suffering2Jesus_Healing_Blind_01_210pxEven the thing we know most about Christ’s life is His suffering, yet is that nothing? In meditation folks try to empty their minds and become blank and emotionless, but yet Christ suffered and that is hardly nothing … let alone emotionless. We sure don’t like suffering, but it is hardly boring. This man suffered, healed, taught, hung out with folks, threw money-changers out of a temple. He may not have been “political” but he was hardly passive. He didn’t sit at home, trying to “empty his mind,” did he?

jesus-money-changers-570x313

What a Rip-Off!

And then we say He suffered for us … so that we don’t have to.

Well, what a bunch of hooey, because, that would be like saying God became God so that He could prevent us from becoming God. It’s like saying we get to have a boring life and can be dumb and unenlightened and not learn from our experiences or grow, because, well, Jesus did all that for us!

It’s such a rip off, it’s like He gets to feel, He gets to really live life, but we don’t….

487452_155199664620103_1996148421_n_thumb561122_4590595203775_1542758755_n_thumbWould anybody crave sameness? Why would anybody crave a death-like pall of an existence? No! We all crave what? TO BE ALIVE! MORE ALIVE!! There is a reason that the worst thing that we imagine in life, death, is depicted as something rotting, boring, uneventful…. Is it not possible that in abhorring what we think is non-existence we are sensing the real and true values of Divinity? Life, aliveness, vitality, change, exuberance, freedom, magnificence, euphoria, expansiveness… are these not values that would have to be associated with Divinity?

we-crave-to-be-more-alive

And what is more alive for someone who’s nothing but good?

Hopeful Sadness? Seriously?

tearsforthelost_thumb487085_405457372846821_2017737770_nWouldn’t Divinity be more alive by putting a “frame” around that goodness to give it a kind of a contrast so it can be more beautiful? Think of all of the things that happen in life out of pain, and the things that we all pull ourselves to, consciously or not.

Remember the poignancy I spoke of. Would there be such a feeling, would there ever be poignancy if there wasn’t like hopeless sadness? If we had hopeful sadness, we’d never even have the experience of poignancy.

Do you see that only by forgetting who we are can we really live life, be really in it, grow in it, change in it. True, it is scary as hell. But the thing is, we all…live through it!

What Do You Call God When He’s Bungee Jumping? Answer: Human

euphoriagirlhappinessjumpjumpingoffacliffrisk-46824072d9eed59244faef612910c0c4_m_thumb1It’s kind of like when you’re bungee jumping. Say, you’re bungee jumping off a bridge. You’re sure you’re gonna die. But you’ve been convinced that all the materials, all the equipment, are safe and sound…that you’ll be secure, that nothing bad whatsoever will happen to you.

So what do you do? Having complete faith in the people doing it and the materials and the strength of them, you do it even though you’re thinking it’s certain you’re gonna die! You have all the fears in the world. It’s you doing peek-a-boo again, only this time with yourself. You’re trying to prove to yourself that God will be always there to catch you.

istockphoto_4971968-peek-a-boo-girl1jumpfrombldgintofiremanarms_thumbAnd you do prove it to yourself.

But the only thing is, we as God do it one better when we come into this world as a human….

We forget…that the “rope” is good.

Forgetting Brings Delight to Getting

381366_368154806595724_1314351731_n1We just throw ourselves off and let ourselves forget that it is certain we will be just fine and that instead of dying it will be fun, that it will in fact be a blast… even if only in retrospect. Or, more accurately, in overspect.

jumpoffrock_thumbWe throw ourselves off, we come into this world, hoping…knowing! knowing that at some point we will remember, before we die, that there is never anything to fear and who we really are. We know we will remember because we know we’re never really gonna die…you’re never gonna die…. You will go from one lifetime to another and will think you die, but it is impossible to end consciousness.

408237_435382236508059_1877189395_n

So we know we’re going to succeed, at some point or other. We know we’re going to remember who we are as divinity and the incredible magnificence of this game that WE have chosen to do for an adventure and as an experiment in consciousness.

And we also know, when we throw ourselves into diminished consciousness, that is, into physical form, that we are going to experience things that we have never ever experienced before…. and that we may never want to experience again.

How to Turn Being Into Becoming

peek-a-boo_thumb1_thumbYou might say that if God is eternal and unchanging and Real that there are no experiences that are not already. homepageYou might say that beingness is not becomingness. Yes, we can look at it that way. Then we can understand it better by thinking of it this way: Have you ever seen a movie or a TV show or play a second time, after a very long time, and have forgotten so much of it that in experiencing it all over again it is as much fun and as en-joy-able as the first time? The joy of experience is amplified by forgetting. That is, when life is approached as a revelation, from the stance that it is ever new, it is more delightful. THAT is how one makes the good into the wonderful.

God Invents Joy by Forgetting.

So, you see that forgetting has its uses in terms of magnifying enjoyment, pleasure, fun. Again, it is a form of peek-a-boo. By keeping something hidden from few, forgotten, it is more pleasurable, even joyous, when once again it is seen to exist!

poignant-butterfly-rhonda-depalma

poignant-reunion_356x489poignancySo, you might say that becoming human is the way we, as God, play. It is the way we magnify delight and bring joy into existence. And to do that God needs to forget, to forget who She is.

God needs to create darkness to glorify the light. She needs to invent pain to put the edge of delight in pleasure. She has to create separation and division … she has to become multiple … to bring out the beauty of Love and Unity and to create the drama of re-union.

150984_105276842983844_1366135514_n

God makes Love brighter and more exquisite by making it poignant … by mixing it with loss. She makes having so much better by losing and so setting up the magnificent experience of getting … all over again.

These are the strangest of days. We live in a time in which ending our species in our lifetime, even eliminating all life on this planet, are very real possibilities. The awareness of this acceleration toward an “end of days” — while so horrifying that we are in denial of it and hardly speak it — hangs over us and affects us in ways singular and fantastic.

309711_322333121211824_69159595_n

This book — Apocalypse No, Apocalypse or Earth Rebirth and the Emerging Perinatal Unconscious — awakens us to the unique character of our times. There are powerful factors and unconscious influences erupting into our world now which are changing the Earth and us in radical ways … for good and ill. This unprecedented era in history is rife with the perinatal, that is, with repressed memories locked into us arising from our experiences of birth. We see that our impending apocalypse has to do with birth feelings, birth trauma — an emerging perinatal unconscious.

bomvvherghlvqgeyabpunx02o1_500_thumb1

Herein is revealed the underbelly of our modern world and life and the impetus behind our self-destruction. We see primal forces arising and exposed. We begin to understand how and why this is happening now. Knowing this gives us the power to do something about our dire situation. Finally, we can direct our attention to the roots of our drive to apocalypse and reverse it.

poignant-butterfly-rhonda-depalma

More than that, this awakening provides a way of transformation for ourselves. For we see that in the heart of this darkness we are bringing down upon us lies the most incredible opportunity for taking a leap beyond what we think of as human nature. This time calls for a new hero’s cycle — one that leaves behind the thuggishness of the old one. We are lifted beyond ourselves in a higher calling and a transcendent yet deeply rooted spirituality.

1236300_448461348601743_1828853488_nwe-are-then-simple-awareness1

We realize that the necessary answer to the dilemma of apocalypse or Earth rebirth lies, not only in the resurrection of a new Earth, but in the dawning of a new self as well.

1239522_10201853994936572_96883098_n

We will either heroically, somehow, save our species and our planet, which will require a change of our human nature unlike anything that has been asked of our species ever before, or we will be witnesses to the elimination of life on this planet in some way that we cannot imagine but can only be horrific in the extreme. This book is about facing, not denying, the uniquely dire character of our times and finding out what it says about us and requires of us.

occupyfff-earth

There is much here to see, and so much of it the mainstream would never touch for fear of creating a panic. Still, to survive our species must face our problems, not look away. And there is a nobility in doing that, which is unlike any kind of nobility or heroism that has been asked of our species before.

64670_428308870569977_1091199249_n

However, this time brings with it an advantage and opportunity also unprecedented: Never before has it been more clear what is right and what is wrong, what is worthwhile and what is not, what is life … what, death, and what is noble and what evil. At no other time has a higher calling or a path of true nobility of soul been more visible. To align oneself with this cause lifts one out of oneself and one’s petty concerns into a heady and invigorating life purpose. We might die in our efforts. There is every likelihood that we will be unable to reverse our dire trajectory. Still, should that occur, those who face and take up this challenge will not suffer the agony of regretting that one could have done something but did not.

1005761_10151845443568628_1159298871_n

On the other hand, though we will need many noble souls to reverse our current downslide into oblivion, it is possible that simply a significant fraction of the world’s population—like the “leaven in the dough”—can make all the difference in the world, literally, by tipping our course one way as opposed to another, especially if these people—because of their healing and their awareness of the crisis—are motivated to place themselves in positions of influence and education, or to put their efforts toward healing, on individual and collective levels, in larger numbers than the average populace would. In other words, not just the leaven in the dough but as persons, standing in the right place and with the lever big enough, who can move the world. I hope, for the sake of us all, that you are one of those heroes.

The Biggest Secret and Why the Bodhisattva Waits: We Remove the Essence of Divinity from Our Ideas of the Divine

The Cloud of Boring Sameness and Why Don’t We Stop Crucifying Christ Already: Experience Is Divinity, Part Eight — Love and Universal Consciousness

love-and-universal-consciousness

The Universe Is One Vast Expanse of Experience

217987_322052067901150_150824502_n23390_446552518732623_745536790_nAnd what is that One Reality we apprehend in doing service? We get a sense of the experience of another human being. We sense that our experience of the World is the same. This is called empathy; it is called compassion. But what that means is really that we sense that other people are just like us, they are “other me’s,” and that what distinguishes us is not what we are inside—meaning our experience or subjectivity of the World—but is merely the set of events and circumstances that that One Experience or subjectivity is confronted with, deals with, and focuses on. We are One Experience; the Universe is One Experience. It happens to be “looking” in different directions. We are simple foci of Awareness in the vast expanse of Experience.

292766_217737858356598_441894144_n

Why the Bodhisattva Waits

And the other word used to describe Ultimate Reality and God, outside of being One is Love.

This follows from what was said above about the experience of Unity. For in apprehending the Truth that others are simply ourselves in other “clothing,” so to speak, we move closer to them in feeling. We call that empathy, compassion, but ultimately we call it Love.

What Is Love

amuletjewel_com_0020_1_1_img1__5047Love is the feeling that another’s needs, wishes, wants, fears, pains, joys, and attainments are our own. That is, we “feel for” them; we feel also hurt when they are pained, happy when they are joyous. What they experience is additive to us, not subtractive. It is the reason the bodhisattva refuses to go into enlightenment until everyone can. For at this stage just short of enlightenment there is the experience of Unity and Love: We go beyond estrangement from others, beyond the feeling that we “are our brother’s keeper,” beyond even the sense that we are all in this together… We sense that we share in the experience of all others and our experience cannot be separated away from theirs … that we rise or fall together, not just in our fortunes but in how we feel about them.

Unity and Love

So the experience of Unity leads to the experience of empathy, then compassion… leading to the experience of Love, taking us to the shores of enlightenment, the shores of the apprehension of Ultimate Reality. They are all experiences, leading to a sense of greater experience, leading to more and more encompassing experience of Reality, of the Whole.

So, Love is closer to the truth of Ultimate Reality, or God, than what is normally thought. It is closer, but not quite it.

It is Love…. It’s also hate…in a strange way….

chakrasinspaceanimationjpeg

If God Is the Universe of Experience, She Is Also Hate

allowing-himself-to-completely-forget539040_2944542193013_429066433_n_thu_thumbGod is hate; but He is hate, as us, having allowed Himself to completely forget. So He is not hate really. God is not hate, not in essence. Hate is just an experience that a part of Him has wanted.

Hate and the evil that corresponds to it is God having a different experience than is His nature. So to have it She needs to forget who She is.

204884_410104969038325_120131957_o

Why God would want to have such experiences that are not part of His or Her nature is the question. And it is what we take a look at shortly.

bs1_thumb1_thumb

Universal Consciousness and The Cloud of Sameness

We also use the words universal consciousness to describe Divinity. But does anyone stop to think what that might mean? Can anyone even imagine or picture it?

The Cloud of Unknowing

1rreisweb_thumbIf we try, chances are we think of something big and amorphous—something that could be both nothing and everything, like a Universal Cloud. Indeed, at least one mystic described it as the Cloud of Unknowing. 598838_2451742469740_1365476115_n_thumbAnd we would not attribute anything colorful to it, for how would we know which colors? So it might be a big grey cloud or a white light.

But, Consciousness? What do we think of it, how do we picture consciousness? Can you see consciousness? So how do you picture it? Like some gigantic cloud, right?

Does God Bore You? Ok, How About Truth?

Well one of the biggest secrets of all is that it is nothing like that, in fact quite the opposite. How would I know? Well, we are One with It and, like I said, we are immersed in it. It is closer to us than our breath, for it is the Experience of breathing, in that case. It is Experience, as I’ve been pointing out. And Experience is hardly dull and grey!

experience-is-hardly-dull

I said I like being an iconoclast. Why? I just gave you an indication that this idea of Consciousness…which we all see as being somehow vague is seen that way because of the words that are blocking our view, the “icons” that are in the way.. It is no thing, so we think it is nothing.

The problem with that is that it makes God, Reality, the Ultimate, and Universal Consciousness all sound pretty goddamn boring! And thinking of it that way has really hurt a lot of people when they want to become more of this Consciousness. For how can you desire very very hard and strive for something that at base seems boring, unwantable, undesirable… that’s nothing?

541997_280034735430484_673206244_n

Is God Nothing or No Thing?

How many people have you seen—meditators and such—sitting for hours and hours and hours trying to have like nothing in their brain!?

Nothing in their brain!? That’s what they’re thinking is GOD!

Why Don’t We Stop Crucifying Christ Already…

017_thumbOr do they think God’s going to show up in a nice pixie or elf uniform or something? No, so whatever they are picturing is boring.

Look at how we have changed Christ to conform to that. Do you ever see him pictured as smiling? As being anything but solemn and severe? How about playful or teasing?

He’s Actually a Nice Guy.

475px-rembrandt_christ_in_the_storm_on_the_sea_of_galilee-web_thumbHow could he possible have been a person and not laughed, kidded, played, and so on. Yet, all of that is removed from our depictions of him leaving a dour lifeless shell of a person, who is then said to represent Life itself. Do you see how confused … and therefore confusing … that is?

Yet even if we take a look at Christ’s life as we know it, was he passionless? Imagine how anyone could get into it with moneychangers in a temple and actually toss them out and not get a little roused up. Yet, being emotionless is even how He is depicted doing that!

greco.christ-traders-temple

We Remove the Essence of Divinity from Our Ideas of the Divine

imetrwertageschrist 1The point is that we keep removing the essence of Divinity—Experience—from all our depictions of Divinity, guaranteeing we will be wrong. Wrong, and even end up getting the opposite idea. We turn living Spirit into emotionless icon and end up worshiping, even emulating, the very things that our holy people exhort us to look away from.

Clasting Icons, Words, and the Physical World: Your Mind Thinks It Lives in a World of Reflections of Your True Nature: Experience Is Divinity, Part Seven — Killing Buddhas on the Path

262716_479678268741921_2022947364_n

All Roads Lead Home

We are fixated on these physical things around us—the world of matter—which, in actuality, are only projections of Reality. They are not eternal and unchanging, and certainly they are not real. Even our sciences show us that what we deem to be substantial, solid, real is actually empty, arbitrary, subjective. The bottom line is material things cannot be ultimately real, for they depend on the perception of the seer for their existence!

550124_226157467514637_320813694_n

542823_230999717030412_1409821899_nAnd there it is again—perception. Another clue!

If you do not yet see this, it is not failure for not getting it. For there is no such thing as failure. That’s part of the point, too. For all roads, everything that I am saying leads to one and only one thing.

But before I spill the beans…. I just had a funny thought. Have we already forgotten that God’s essential nature and that which we humans alone share with Him is that ability to laugh? Laughter. There it is again. Another clue, if you will.

Like I said, all roads lead there…to this one thing…to this one thing that is God.

548409_221004891363228_159750788_n

Kill the Buddha on the Path

Let us say we see what happens if rather than trying to bring to awareness through gentle tugging at things you know inside but are not ready to remember, we try instead a simple but effective way. I love iconoclasm.

bt_thumb

Plato’s Cave

images_thumb2sci_3junglebuddha_thumbWhat’s an icon? It is a piece of God that is described. And now described it is no longer seen. For with that, what is being described is no longer focused on, just the icons, just the description. It is similar to the classic misdirection magicians use to make things seem to disappear, and it is similarly mesmerizing.

426687_451527951564479_733784689_n1

Words, Icons, the Physical World

Well, there are all kinds of icons that we accept as totally real. All of them block out reality … and cause you to not see the reality you are immersed in. They “describe” Reality … they point to it … but in doing so they block it from view. Because of this, your mind thinks it lives in a world of reflections of your true nature. These reflections are called words, icons, and even the physical world.

431444_3464607914331_1259010831_n

peek_a_boo_by_punkviciousss005_peek-a-boo_f_detail_thumbWhat they all have in common is their ability to block out your perception of your true nature as God. What they also have in common is their ability to reveal your truth, when, in seeking God, you consciously decide to remove them from your perception. Words, icons, and the physical world constitute the hypnotic show of human reality, which both conceals true Reality yet can be used to reveal it at the point when you are ready to accept it: As the Asian saying goes, at an advanced stage of spiritual growth, when you see a “Buddha” on the path, kill Him.

561016_2407963495293_237412491_n_thumb

Words = “Monkey Mind”

Some of this might be more obvious than others. We talk about words and verbal mindplay distracting one from actually experiencing Reality; we say not to get caught up in the “monkey mind.” The idea is that if you could stop doing that you would be closer to perceiving truly, closer to enlightenment.

197663_375565309166209_2049323184_n_thumb

But it is the same thing with icons and the physical world. They conceal; and can also be removed to reveal. We go beyond “Buddhas,” idols, and gurus at a certain point. We also can retreat from the physical world into old-fashioned contemplation and meditation, or using one of the “new-age” techniques of sensory deprivation we can reduce our overwhelming awareness of “things.”

60619_219569561506761_919303948_n

Reality Is Unity, So…

313603_499893186703562_1470181529_n_thumb527911_457999547555625_297967119_n_thumbThere is another way of breaking through the haze of reflections that blocks out the apprehension of Reality. First, keep in mind we have all heard it said innumerable times what the nature of God and Reality is.

We have come so far as to know, somehow, that Reality is “One.” We all say Unity is what is Reality.

tree-of-life-wdr

We Do Service Because…

Well the other ways we attempt to experience…there I go, again!…attempt to experience this Unity, and therefore Actual Reality, is through service. In serving the unfortunate we invariably feel our heart—there’s another icon that we should dispense with…well maybe another time….

We say the heart “opens up.” We say it opens to others, and we sense our Oneness, our Unity with others. We say, “There but for the grace of God go I.” Ultimately we experience our Unity with all things, living and nonliving.

you-are-rich_thumb

What I am getting to is that the sense of Unity that we are trying to achieve, what we describe as where we are headed, and the Ultimate Reality of it all, is always described aaaass –>> One.

Recipe for Game of Humanness: Take Equal Parts Emptiness and Stupidity…

So we’ve got a game that has components of total emptiness and utter royal stupidity, which allows a belief that death is both an end to life and that it is painful. Don’t we believe that? Well, that’s not the truth. But that’s what we come to believe. That death is an end, and a painful one, to our lives is what we come to believe coming into human form. [Footnote 1].

ss-110129-egypt-18.ss_full

Add a Belief in a Death…

Think of it. We have a game that has components of total emptiness and utter royal stupidity which allows a belief that death is both an end of life, and that it is painful. And that it is terrifyingly real, and terrifying because there is that darkness beyond it which…aaaaas usual!…all the yet unprojected interesting details of this temporary creation of God, this ego, can be viewed like on a movie screen. And lacking the fundamental truth that it is just a movie, well, the parameters of this game allow for the most terrifying, most extreme feelings of any kind that is possible.

Many of you are no doubt thinking, “Why would God do and make such a hideous possibility?”

Well, remember that, just like the baby, no matter what its fears, is lovingly taken care of by its mother, we are also by Divinity. We are completely in the “hands” of Divinity. As it is said, “Not a blade of grass moves in the wind unless God wills it.”

So the fears and all the darkness are only experiences…they’re just feelings. That means that they are not permanent, having no substance or foundation—like the reality of truth-awareness-bliss does. Now that reality—of truth-awareness-bliss—is not going to change, ever. It is What Is. However, experiences, feelings are fleeting, impermanent, ultimately not real.

If God Is All There Is, and She Can’t Be on Her Side, Who Can?

And why is this difference crucial? Let’s take an example. Let us say your cat was to lodge itself under a porch, which if it stayed there it would die. Would you hesitate to drag that cat out no matter how much it screeched and struggled? Because you knew you were taking care of that cat, you would do it.

oh-hell-no

Well, that is kind of the way sometimes we have to be treated by God. It is kind of the way we being God have to treat ourselves who are in forgetfulness of that fact. Because, actually to our credit, we have chosen quite an adventure—one with forgetfulness that is allowing all kinds of things to happen that animals cannot experience. But being in forgetfulness we would lose our way back unless we helped ourselves out. And God loves God (God IS Love). So we love ourselves and we are going to help ourselves out… even if it seems to us as forgetful humans that what we are giving ourselves is pain and discomfort, not help.

There Are No Wrong Adventures

391768_3052183483978_2088528074_nBut sometimes we choose such an adventure or we see others have chosen adventures that just seem so horrible and wrong that it is impossible to believe a Divine would choose them. But we must remember we are judging these lives and experiences from the view 199706_344732748948898_302708152_n1of our limited selves—our selves that are in forgetfulness of our nature as Divinity. So in such a state how could we possibly have any inkling at all of what Divinity would want and why?

There are no wrong adventures. It just seems to deluded humans there are. From the perspective of Divinity, we see that there are always reasons, profound and beautiful ones, for everything that happens and all that exists. Everything is truly perfect … even in its seeming imperfection.

I am going to attempt to give you a look at that: How things can be perfect even in their painful or horribleness. Let me continue. It will all come together, you’ll see.

The Poignancy of It All

Getting back to that metaphor of peek-a-boo: For the baby, Mommy’s face disappears … who knows where? There is concern, distress. Where did it go? Then Momma’s face is suddenly there and everything is bright, beautiful, even more wonderful and joyous than if it had never gone away. For the baby’s appreciation of Mother is heightened by being reminded of the experience of what it is like for her not to be there. You know the saying, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Indeed, sometimes people in relationships perform a sort of peek-a-boo on each other—usually unconsciously—to keep the spice, to keep that edge of feeling, that poignancy, in their love for each other. Keep these things in mind, now.

And remember that in the baby’s experience of peek-a-boo, the darkness that the baby feels—the whatever…the feeling of loss—it’s not permanent; it has no substance or foundation.

nevermind2b-2bemily2blitella_thumb

pranhicThe only substance out there that is true is that of Truth-Awareness-Bliss. These other things are fleeting. 55387cffAnd we don’t remember it now in human form, but most of Time of the timelessness of the Now, in which we exist—except for like going off on adventures like this human life in which we create time—we spend in that Truth-Awareness-Bliss.

If you are getting an inkling of the beauty of all this, you might see the perfect poignancy of such a game.

316857_484532944898766_1680109184_n1There are so many other ways to describe its exquisiteness, too. I will use your own truth to bring you to an appreciation of this.

Ok, we’re all God…pretending not to be.

268217_447167825322871_358388005_n2Remembering how peek-a-boo works—for a baby or for ourselves in our continuous cycles of forgetfulness and remembrance in life, there is a part of it that we humans always overlook. No doubt we fail always to see it, because it is actually God, and is the only thing that can be God….

I realize that makes no sense to you at all: Where there is God in peek-a-boo or in the things as Divinities we put ourselves through in life—the cycles of pain and then wisdom and awakening that comes from it—sounds outrageous I’m sure. But just continue listening….

This Is the Way, the Teacher, and the Path.

561016_2407963495293_237412491_nThere is no physical world that exists. We know that. Even our sciences reveal that. And there are no words that are anything but a way to block out the vision of essence. So you cannot expect to find God hidden in either the physical world or inside the chaos of our words.

But there is one thing, one thing always that exists, is always present, that contains everything, and that is everything. And it is also the teacher, the path, the way…the way back to remembering … the way out of the 408309_1764639612598_1737376259_863778_1611513471_n418653_458005347555045_1980902545_ndarkness…the fear…or any of the more adventurous aspects of reality.

poignant-reunion_356x489I’ll get to it, but first notice I said adventurous, not negative, painful, or hard.

Let’s go back to that thing that you are God. And you cannot help but be on your side. So therefore what you experience is always going to steer you to understanding. Everything you experience has a purpose of getting you to realizing who you are and bringing you back eventually to your true nature. Would that not make sense? And if you look at your own life’s experiences, is that not what has happened? Is it not what got you here?

293242_2999899096901_860023520_n

So has it yet become clear from this that what I was saying just before about this thing that is overlooked in peek-a-boo, this thing which God is?

occupydenver-2_thumb

Forgetting Where You Put Yourself

499545812poignancyThe answer is that the experience of the baby is overlooked in the game. The baby goes through all kinds of states of feeling and experiencing of the various experiential flavors that this game of peek-a-boo affords; that is what is the most obvious thing in the game. The same thing happens in the game of life. Indeed, it is truly amazing that our human amnesia can leave out the essence of existence as we go about being blinded by these myriad and distracting physical things.

Footnote

1. How we end up believing in death being an end and it being painful while coming into our human form is explained in detail in my writings about our prenatal and perinatal traumas. A good deal of the book, Apocalypse—No! has to to with how our early traumas in the womb and at birth imprint us for life in ways that make us inordinately fearful and untrusting. See especially Apocalypse – No! Chapter Seven: “We Ain’t Born Typical”” and from there on.

Also, a good number of the Prasads of The Great Reveal deal with this subject of humans having a birth unique among planetmates that makes us inordinately fearful of pain and insecure. See especially The Great Reveal, Chapter Eleven: The Third Prasad – Humans Only Half Ready for Life at Birth and from there on.

Apocalypse Emergency is about a frightening global predicament that everyone seems to be aware of, but which few people are giving the attention and seriousness it deserves. I talk about why people would do that, why the media would be inclined to shy away. Basically it’s understandable because we simply have no way of comprehending the magnitude of what is happening and how fast, since no living thing on this planet in its multibillion year history has had to face what we are.

I compare what is happening right now to cause planetary death in the relatively near future to a trillion-alarm fire with everyone looking the other way. I say you need to respond to this with the urgency of being in a world war, marshaling all available national and world resources to bear on it, and not with the complacency of a boy-scout litter pick up campaign.

I use spiritual fantasy and real world analogies to help us get a handle on what we’re facing. In jumping into these “waters,” I expected to be emotionally beat up. But instead I came to many understandings, and found I saw the positions of many who aren’t helping right now somewhat through their eyes, and found compassion, not blame.

The ending lifted me up in a way that I haven’t felt in a long time on this matter. I can only say that my long term study of humans—as a depth psychotherapist and as a student of other cultures across all time periods, that is, anthropology—informed my conclusions, shaped them, and took me to visions of possible futures that I did not expect, but seem, if not as likely, then at least as worthy of the human spirit as we deserve.

For all we’ve done it seems we have called down upon ourselves to be tested and to be found either worthy, or deserving of the grave we’re digging. However, facing dire challenges—and this being the most dire of all—brings out the best in Humans.

I left the piece feeling so much love and unity with all humans and living things, for I knew that at no other time in the history of the world was the truth of the saying “we’re all in this together” more patently true.

Apocalypse Emergency goes back and forth between the horrors that are possible and, well, let us say, this unique situation with the potential so strong to bring humans to raise themselves up and be led by their better angels more than any other time. What it will mean could be exciting and triumphant beyond belief as humans come out of their puerile adolescent phase and become united and shaped for millennia by this great struggle. We could also die trying our mightiest, which has a nobility to it.

Currently we are looking like the stupidest beings ever to dream the dream of thingness and duality.

It’ll be scary and interesting, and you’ll be helped if you have a strong faith in a Higher Power.

Beyond that, it will be the biggest adventure that the entire globe ever faced together, and the outcome could be just about anything.

If you care about your children, you’ll “man up,” “woman up,” “cowboy up,” whatever…anything but cover up…and face the horror, become the noble humans we are capable of being, and join with others to pull off the most heroic actions of all time.

Or else we’ll be deemed throughout the Universe as “suicidal ape,” and our portrait will be no different from Mars.

The better angels of our beings urge us to pay attention to what is being said….

dancedeath1Chapter One: Eight Billion Neros Fiddling … It’s a Trillion-Alarm Fire, Not a Boy-Scout Litter Campaign

…I can’t believe the nonchalance around the huge environmental catastrophes that have gone on in just the last three years alone—specifically, the Gulf Oil Spill and the Fukushima Japan nuclear disaster. When the BP disaster was ongoing and gushing devastating amounts of oil into the Gulf, Donna Brazille, frustrated with the Obama Administration’s response to the Spill, fumed aloud, “Where is the fierce urgency of Now?!!!

When you get a call at work that your house is on fire, you rush home worrying about whether your family is alive or dead, what, if anything, remains of your precious keepsakes, and so on. And you don’t, this time, stop on the way home to have a short visit with your mother at the nursing home, grab a few things at the grocery store, or even fill up your tank at the gas station! YOU GO STRAIGHT HOME AND TRY TO SAVE YOUR FAMILY AND HOME! MORE….

loveyourmotherChapter Two: Love’s Wake-Up Call – Apocalypse Emergency

…I know there are others like myself right now attempting to wake up the noble spirited, the heroic among us, who once convinced will add whatever unique qualities God has blessed them to this once in a multibillions chance to be good, kind, brave, hard working, sympathetic, heartful, strong, God-loving, life embracing, laughter-, song-, and children-loving humans again.

To be humans again, not greedy beasts of prey with green in their eyes and their blood, who have been taking over this planet for several decades now, for idiotically selfish ends. So maddened are they, we have already seen the first incredible detonation of their unconcern for this planet—all God’s creatures on it, and even their own offspring—in this collapse of an entire global economic system in what seemed practically to be overnight in 2007. So insane they, we have seen the consequences of their greedy craving in the increasing radiation of the planet, through accidents like Fukushima, and the dying of the oceans—our oxygen source—with the Gulf Oil Spill. MORE….

0000apocalypseemergencyChapter Three: A Conversation on the Eve of Apocalypse

People are becoming zombies in the face of their death, their own upcoming suffering, not to mention the death of all life on this planet. Do an internet search on apocalypse and note how little, if anything, is posted about the urgency or emergency of our current situation.

It comes across as a big party on a South Pacific Island in a hotel that everyone there knows will not survive the incoming tsunami or killer hurricane. But in the meantime they’re drinking themselves silly, drugging…gonna party their way to the end. That is not a rational response to the end of all life.

Other responses on the apocalypse have machismo aspects to them. In fact, most sites about apocalypse have a macho message in common. MORE….

enrapturedreaction-crpd_thumbChapter Four: Death Wish – Zombies and Sad Proselytists

False bravado—as described in the last chapter—is the most insane response to our predicament, with one exception: That is, what I’m hearing is a kind of euphoria and longing for the end of it all in evangelical groups who think of it as the Rapture—a kind of being freed from what is seen as an onerous Earth existence and the reward of the true life one thinks one deserves of ease, love, and happiness in heaven.

Now, is that not the most extreme form of reaction formation you have ever heard? These folks have developed an elaborate, comforting fantasy to escape the facts of their lives. MORE….

ecocide-earth1_thumbChapter Five: Death Wish – Thanatos Walking

…Freud took it beyond our inner struggles and talked about how the events of the world, the actions and movements of history, and the dramas of all the ages are in fact the products of this inner struggle.

At this very moment, our lesser selves are taking us on a path that leads inevitably, one way or another, to total species extinction. But not just that, being the “overachieving” species we are, we are bringing total life extinction to this planet and possibly even planetary annihilation–the death of virtually all life on this Earth….

…we will continue to live, and we will become good citizens of this planet and our species will continue on?

True? False?

This discussion is only now beginning. MORE….
